phil from sheffield - the season isn't over for us by a long long way! we're 6 points off the top with 43 matches left...
i agree with bob in that a winning side should not have been dismantled so readily and thoroughly by ST. The boys who played the final 8 matches of last year should have remained the same (with the addition of lucketti, butler and roberts). it might have been wise to wait for an injury or a great performance in the reserves before including the new arrivals.
anyway, at least we never lose to millwall...

Yes I stick to having respect for stan saying he picked the wrong team. As much as I liked PJ I dont think he ever even considered saying it was down to him we ever lost. The last manager who I remember putting his hand up was Warnock against cambridge years ago.I dont think he needs to go further just move on and get the wins started before the gap widens.

and Dominic Green signs for the Posh.I'm not surprised he was put off by our 'showing' on Saturday.Perhaps ST'll move for Jones of Burnley now. After all it's a week since he signed anybody, what's he playing at?

G Littlewood I'm sure GM would have told ST that most of them could cut it at this level but the last three seasons say otherwise. After an admittedly dire performance on Saturday lets all not forget that these players weren't good enough and throughout last season people on here were calling for the sort of signings that have been made.Whether those that have come in are good enough only time will tell but other than maybe 3/4 players needed bringing in.The queue to sign those relegated to the reserves hasn't been very long to say the least.

Bob, I am sure I dont need to defend ST,how can anyone judge after 3games.The free flowing footie you mention was played against teams who had been relegated or missed out on the play-offs,they had nothing to play for only pride. You mention AB as

quite simple our style of play is perfect for away from home but not at home, we didnt need crainey, as i believe berrett and collins are like holdsworth good enough graduates to cut at this level, the biggest disappointment is goodwin he is supposed to look calm and confident on the ball but always looks rushed and hurried! his control is abasmyl AH should be the holding midfielder and we should sign a new right back, smith perhaps, lets hope PJ starts tonight alongside AB.
Ram from Halifax: It doesn't matter what Derby paid for Dickinson if he can't score goals he'll go for a fraction of that, along with his manager who has taken over 27 games to record a victory!

Just to put a smile on all our faces after a bad weekend, L***s have failed to beat Town in the last 9 competitive matches in Huddersfield.Their last win over us here was October 1964.Here's to the next 44 years.
Its obvious, from the amount of people who agree with me on the subject of a 20+ striker,That our illustrious Manager does Not read this Messageboard, otherwise he would have signed one, instead of a load of lower league midfield journeymen,no better than the ones already at the club.Incidentally Ken Johnson, any of em the one you mentioned you KNEW about? or is he still pending?? Times running out!or is it this new guy we are looking at with a non-league background,Dominic who?

We are all frustrated because of decades of underperformance by Town, and because we see 'lesser' clubs achieving what we want to achieve. There will always be different opinions on tactic, players (remember the polarised views about Dave Cowling?) and virtually any other football topic. But please, let's not fall out amongst ourselves, we're all Town fans, we belong to the same tribe.
Hope the message in regard to gerry murphy fall out with st not true though the way he has gone about restructure of squad is in my opinion shambolic surely st should have consulted gm in regard to players who could cut it at this level, you build a wall brick by brick and team in same way slowly and efficient way bit at a time, i hope my feelings dont come true suspect we have blown a big opportunity this season hope iam wrong

I've only been able to see two matches this season because of cricket. But as far as I can make out, Ternent prefers the long ball game. I'm no fan of this non-passing game - its awful to watch. If players can't pass and move with speed, they're not footballers. I've never been a fan of Murphy but the performances in the last few matches of last season were far ahead of anything we've seen so far.

Respect? For saying that he must have picked the wrong team? He'd have had my respect (but not my £100) if he'd warned he was going to wipe out Gerry's flowing young team and import a bunch of (mostly) average booters. Cheshire T you were right. ST isn't into midfield build-ups like we humbled Leeds with, is he? But he doesn't seem to know who, in his sunami of imports, should play where. I'll be generous; Jim G could be our midfield boss; Gary R is a good attacking ball-player; Andy B is a fast solid back; Chris L had to come in after Rob P's sad departure. But please - fit them round the existing proven nucleus of Andy H, Mick C, James B, (John W), Joe S, (Rob W)! Upfront with Cads fit again, Phil J is surely an obvious choice, as is Keigan P? (If he isn't fit for 90, Stan, play him till his legs give out, surely! But not AB or LB.) Kev Gomey; I don't want to watch this stuff either. I guess I just don't like ST's approach. OK Shepley John. Let's hear it for the bosses...
EXPRIANCED MANAGER STAN he has been around in the game for along time now,he has played over ten games now, trained day in day out for 8 weeks with this team, he turned around on Saturday and said[ I CHOSE THE WRONG TEAM ]come on Stan we saw it after stockport,i wanted to go to every game this season but come november i could be forced back in the district league playing,HOPE NOT ,lets get that win.....

Saturday was a shambles, but on reflection with the changes we have made it will take time for the team to gel.Looking on the bright side we have a stronger squad than last season now, if only because we have more cover and more competition for places - Roberts looks like a good 'un but then he started off well with Ipswich too and went off the boil, so let's not count our chickens. But can someone tell me why we now have two full midfields when what we need to make Stan's long ball game work are consistent goalscorers with pace - unfortunately Booth, Beckett, Parker, Jevons and Cadermarteri don't fit into that category. It will be interesting to see his first eleven for tomorrow night.

glad you took the bait BOB youre the one with the sense of humour by pass you take yourself far too seriously. watching and supporting town (that means actually going to matches not listening on the radio)for over 40 yrs youve got to have a sense of humour.anyway football is all about opinions and some peoples at times happen to differ from yours doesnt make them wrong and you right or visa versa.think we can all agree abismal defending on saturday hope it doesnt happen too often again. like to see COLLINS AND BERRETT back in for SHEFF UTD GAME.

Stan and Rocket Ronnie obviously aren't the men for the job. That's plain to see after only 3 games. Neither of them have the tactical nounce that Gerry Murphy has. Look at the way he switched to 3-5-2 last season, and instantly went on an unbeaten run with the same players Richie had made such a shambles of trying to manage. ST and RJ come in and try to make an instant impression by signing a whole new team (almost) and throw nearly all of them in at once, and we end up looking a shambles again. Shoulda offered Murphy a deal he couldn't refuse. It sickens me to think that its already another season wasted. After just 3 games.
Far to early to make any judgment on Ternent. we will hear rumours of players being unhappy and sounding off because the comfortable little world of it not really mattering if Town won or lost has just be shaken up! Many of last years squad were happy to accept defeat. That's what Stan is having to change. some players simply don't have the mental will to win or put in the effort required. Time for them to move on to a new club.Quite sure Stan will come good.

Stan keeps buying players but for what system On Staurday the tactics are obvious, whack it front asap. We then lose the ball from this, plus midfield were either out battled or simply lost the ball. Does not appear to be a play maker, does not appear to be many goals in the team. Also on Saturday the cente backs were made to look very slow and play too far up the park. For me Berrett is the play maker with Goodwin/Worthington getting the ball for him. Gary Roberts I like because he looks like he could play in any system. The rest don't look up to the pace yet. We were bullied all game long by MK Dons from front to back which was wooying. Desperately need a 20 + goal a season strong forward.
I am willing to be patient and will suffer not winning if I can make out where we are going. Looks miles away so far.

Have just viewed the board and noticed that most of my message is omitted. Basically, what I was trying to say was that the phrases lumbering carthorses springs to mind for 3 of the defence and headless chickens for the starting midfield. ST saw the displays last season under the guidance of the 2 GM's but he has chosen to stifle the talents of the players who have come (and are still coming) through the acadamy, instead of nurturing them, by not even considering them worth places on the bench. I consider JW is a better ball-winner than JG and he can distribute the ball constructively with short passes rather than the big boot. The only short pass I have seen JG make was (in my opinion) the blatently cynical Hospital pass he made to JW in the Stockport game ST has pleaded for time to get the team to gel but how can this happen when his new signings are put straight into the team with no idea of the system they should be playing.

I picked the wrong team. So what does that actually mean? Wrong team to play the system he wants. Wrong team because the players picked were not good enough. Just what does he mean? The two players he took off at half time were his signings. So does he mean he has signed the wrong players. I knew little of the players he has signed but putting together all your comments it seems he has signed for signing sake. How many more midfielders do we need, when we already had a nucleus. My only thought is that those already at the club are too cosy, no winning mentality and he therefore feels he needs to sweep clean rather than build. At the moment I am lost to know what his big plan is. Competition yes, but he has now frozen out a number of good players. My worse fears are now coming to fruition - in 44 years, high hopes have always delivered poor results. Please not again.
